Terms and Conditions
First and foremost, The Plymouth-Dakar Challenge is “Totally Un-supported”.
What Does this Mean?
It means that there are:
§ NO back-up trucks or mechanics or any other assistance to the participants in the event of breakdown, accident or other mishap or occurrence;
§ NO formal arrangements with any of the countries en-route for special circumstances for entry or exit - the participants are normal Tourists in each country.
§ NO arrangements made for medical assistance in the case of illness, accident or any other occurrence.
§ NO arrangements for any kind of assistance whatsoever in the event that any of The Participants become stranded at any stage of The Challenge without the means either financially or physically to continue their journey or reach a point of safety.
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST CONSIDER THEMSELVES TO BE ALONE ON THEIR JOURNEY
The Rules
1) Competing cars must cost less than £100 or Eur 120
2) Maximum budget for the vehicle Challenge preparation: £15 or Eur 18.
3) Once the Challenge is underway, there will be no form of formal assistance from the organizers in any way - Teams are On their Own.
4) All of vehicles that make the full distance to Banjul must be handed over to the Challenge Control Group in the appropriate jurisdiction, to be auctioned under controlled conditions in aid of local charities.
5) All vehicles must be LEFT-HAND DRIVE for the Banjul Challenge!!
It is well recognized by all participants that this is an event with no rules and with very few organization or support. So, beside from rules number 4 and 5, all other can be broken.
One additional suggested "rule": it is strongly recommended that there are only 2 pleople in each car. In practice, it is likely that we will be travelling in small groups of 5 or 6 cars, and the Team Spirit of the Challenge will mean that people in the other Teams will try to help us out. Attempts to assist us may, however, be fruitless and we must consider the possibility that we may end up stranded. huummmm... NO WAY!! :D
